AB 2009 – Interscholastic Athletic Programs commencing July 1, 2019, if a school district or charter school elects to offer any interscholastic athletic program, the school district or the charter school shall acquire at least one AED for each school within the school district or the charter school.

defibrillator onsite commencing January 1, 2019.

On November 6, 2018, the Department of Industrial Regulations (DIR) released the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (Cal/OSHA) emergency regulation that requires certain employers to electronically submit Form 300A on occupational injuries and illnesses. Local educational agencies (LEAs) with over 250 employees and LEAs with between 20-249 employees that provide school bus transportation must electronically submit their Cal/OSHA Form 300A for calendar year 2017 by December 31, 2018.
Member Alert – AB 1747: School Safety Plans
This bill requires: the schoolsite council to additionally consult with a fire department and other first responder entities in the writing and development of the comprehensive school safety plan and would require the comprehensive school safety plan and any updates made to the plan to be shared with the law enforcement agency, the fire department, and the other first responder entities. By expanding the responsibility of a school district or county office of education with respect to the development of a comprehensive school safety plan, the bill would impose a state-mandated local program.

A power outage may: Disrupt communications, water, and transportation. Close retail businesses, grocery stores, gas stations, ATMs, banks, and other services. Cause food spoilage and water contamination. Prevent use of medical devices.

AB 1227 requires school districts to include labor and sexual human trafficking prevention education in grades seven through twelve as part of comprehensive sexual health education and requires human trafficking awareness training for school district staff.

Member Alert – AB 1719: CPR Training Resources for High Schools with a Health Course Requirement
Pursuant to AB 1719, beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, California school districts that require a course in health education for graduation from high school must include in that course, instruction in performing compression-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). This law does not apply to school districts or charters that do not have a health course requirement
